However, instead of making her a new one, they obviously put her cheese covered patty under a heating element as the orange cheese turned crispy black. The server was very nice about it and took it back. She stressed the fact that she wanted her burger well done but when it came out, it was pink inside. My wife and I had the nachos and they were excellent but she had a problem with the entree. Once you enter, you'll find some great kitschy fun, especially if you're a fan of the spy genre. There's a catch, however, as you need a password to get in or they make you do something silly on closed circuit TV and broadcast your antics to those inside. Technically, I give it a ranking of 3.5.Located in a little alleyway in downtown Milwaukee, the Safe House is definitely a place to visit when in the area. I would have ranked it higher if either they had better food (it wasn't bad, just a little overpriced & nothing really special - however, the cheese in my dish was balls of real mozarella - yum!) or if there was a little more to the "spyness" of it, like more secret rooms or something. Really, it's a fun place, so if you're looking for a "fun" meal when in Milwaukee, I suggest going. If you are a spy-buff, or maybe just really into Bond or Bourne, for sure check it out. However, I was hoping for a little more in regards to the "safe house & spy" design of the building. My brother-in-law only found that by accident because (like all of us) he was playing around with everything there. There are some fun things there, including a secret exit. We will think hard before we return on our next trip to town. 3 of 4 adults ordered "specialty" cocktails they the server refused to let us order another one because they need to use the same glass. The food (steak sandwich, chicken sandwich, French dip, and kids meals) were mediocre at best. Once we were seated, it took a full 17 minutes for a server to even acknowledge us, and another 10 minutes past that to get drink orders even taken. We waited 15 minutes past our reservation time for our table (right inside the door - we could see it sitting set and ready from the time we got in). The service from the front desk once we got into the actual restaurant to the server for our table was terrible. I am hoping when I took my husband, kids and friends there this visit they were just having an off night. I used to go to the Safe House regularly when I was in college in Milwaukee in the late 90's. ![]()
